Beauty Never Dates

Thoughts ,Beauty,Make-up

This is the second eyeshadow pot that I am reviewing from the shadow stylist line. This eyeshadow is a dark blue grey color. It is more on the smokey side and has a duo chrome shimmer like the previous one. I dont want to go in much detail about it and just get to the pictures. I will link the previous review for you so you can check out the product details. http://beautyneverdates.blogspot.com/2012/01/product-review-maybelline-shadow.html

This one vintage Maybelline product buried under my makeup collection that I rediscovered when I was looking for something to review. The product in question is the Maybelline shadow stylist. Its basically a stick with a shadow pot as a base. The stick has a sponge applicator to the end which does do a decent job at applying the shadow. The shadow it self is in the form of a loose shadow. It has gold and pink shimmer which is not overpowering. The pink is very muted as the gold is more prominent. The shadow stylist comes in many shades I personally have two this pink one and another darker one which I will review soon

Pro's
  1. Comes in a nice package
  2. Does not have much fallout
  3. Comes in a variety of shades
  4. Lasts a considerable time
  5. Can be used as an all over lid shade or can be blended
  6. The sponge applicator actually works
  7. Great for a first time make up user
Con's
  1. Unfortunately I have no idea of the availability
Final verdict : Its a great gift to a teenager or even to someone who is new to make up
Price : around 250 rps
Can be found : at your local health and glow
This is a beautifully pigmented eyeshadow in cream form. This very shade has been with me now for a long time and I always seem to grab it. It is not too creamy and does not crease much. It can be worn alone or used to blend out a harsh color. Street Wear as a brand is pretty affordable. These eyeshadows made a comb back on several online shops so I decided to do a review on it.It works well as a base and the shimmer in it is also more iridescent than chunky.

Pros's
  1. Cheap
  2. Easily available
  3. Easy to blend
  4. Has beautiful shimmer
  5. Great Pigmentation
  6. Complimentary to many shades
  7. Available in a variety of colors
  8. Packaging is sturdy
Con's
Creases when worn for many hours or on oily lids

Tip: Use the cream eyeshadow all over the lid being shy of the actually crease area
Final Verdict: Great for people interested in trying cream shadows but does not want to spend much.
Price:110 rps
This is one palette I think everyone should have. The colors are complementing to several skin tones. The texture is perfect to be worn either as a sheer wash of color or thick like an eyeshadow. It has a matte color in it with shimmer ones. Though I would say that they do crease I think if you use it with a light hand you can get away with it. The shimmer shade in the palette is great for highlighting purposes. The palette it self comes in a nice packaging and even though it looks delicate it has lasted me a long time. I like that you can see the colors through the top cover. The palette it self comes in several shades but this was a must have for me. It also co-ordinates with a eyeshadow palette that I have from them.

Pro's
  1. The palette is easily available
  2. The colors are complementary to all skin tones
  3. A nice variety of finishes
  4. Can be used as a highlight too
  5. Can be used by all ages
  6. Great pigmentation on the colors
  7. Blend-able
  8. All the colors could be used together for a day and night look
Con's
  1. Can crease after long wear
  2.  May be expensive for some
  3.
Final Verdict : Its great for being a base to your eyeshadows for more vibrant looks.

Price : 500 rps

I actually put this review on hold as I really wanted to test this product. It has been barely a few weeks since I had it and never came up to blow drying my hair straight. Anyway this weekend I decided I would and what a joy it was. As soon as I received this brush I knew I would like it. The relatively lightweight brush and the thermal core were features that appealed to me. The brush is a little small when compared to the brush that I first reviewed . I would categorize it as a medium size brush. I was amazed at the way the brush worked. By far my favorite brush ever. Not only did it add shine to my hair but also made it incredibly smooth. It was easy to flick and did not hurt my wrist. It also did not burn me the handle was long enough.
Pro's
  1. Light weight
  2. Takes less time to dry my hair
  3. Imparts shine
  4. Holds style
  5. The grips on the handle are great for a firm hold
  6. Easy to create flicks
  7. Straightens hard to straight hair
  8. Catches even baby hair
  9. Does not tangle in the hair
  10. Size is easy to use not too big
  11. Creates great volume
Con's
  1. Available only online and in some selected cities
  2. Some might consider it pricey but it is half the price of any decent straightener
Final verdict : I think its an amazing buy for people who have straight to wavy hair as it straightens and adds a great bounce. My favorite round brush.

Price :730 rps

This is one of the first professional round brushes that I bought. I found this at a stall put up during an exhibition. I have naturally curly hair and hence wanted a heavy duty round brush. I jumped to the opportunity when I found this brush. It is described as a brush with natural bristle and a wooden body. The brush is pretty big and worth every penny paid. I always loved how the salon ladies would blow dry the hair when they were done. It would look so glamorous with this in mind I started learning various styles on how to blow dry. This brush has been with me now for over a year so I must tell you it is well used. Like always the pro's and con's follow below

Pro's
  1. No shedding of the bristles
  2. Gives professional finish to the hair
  3. Adds shine
  4. The brush it self is large allowing me to take big sections
  5. Great for curly to really curly hair
  6. Does not cause damage to the hair
  7. Adds immense volume to the hair
  8. The handle is not slippery
  9. The style lasts long even without hairspray and mousse
  10. Hair does not get caught up around the area where the brush is joined to the handle
 Con's
  1. The size of the brush adds weight on the wrist which may be be uncomfortable
  2. I have long fingers hence I find that the handle is short for me and the heat of the blow dryer touches my fingers.
Final Verdict : I think it definitely is a brush worth investing in if you are a round brush enthusiast or love blow drying your hair.

There are soo many questions regarding to eyeliner and how to apply it . You can use an eyeliner pencil, a liquid liner or an eyeliner brush dipped into a deep shadow to line eyes. You can apply your eyeline by just following your eye shape , or give it a little bit of defination by altering it here and there .We indeed spend alot of time doing our eyes and the main reason behind it is , our eyes are the strongest feature in our face , and as the famous saying goes.... The eyes are the mirror of the soul !so we better pay attention . They are different eye colours to which different eyeliners compliment .
For BROWN -green , blue , black and purple
GREEN - green , brown and black
BLUE - blue , purple , and black
HAZEL -brown , black and green

I will give you 5 basic tips on how to achieve the perfect eyeliner based on shape  .
- If you have alomond shape eyes then you are blessed already just follow your natural eye shape for more defination . Adding warm brown shades to your lower lash line will give a little defination to your eye.
Simple eyeliner following the shape of your eye
- If your eyes are small and have a small lid space the best way to go is the feline wink eyeline this will open up your eye and draw more attention to it .The idea is to make our eyes look rounder .

-If your eyes are small AVOID using eye liner on top and bottom lash line ( water line and tightline) this will make you eye appear small .

-If you have trouble with smugging and smearing eyeliner all over your eye and under eye area then using a gel eyeliner will help . Set the gel eye liner with some eye shadow and this will keep the gel eye liner set in place and it will not move around .

-If you have a hard time applying kajal this s probably because either your lids are oily .In order to solve this problem you can wipe yur water line before apllying kajal . The other reason could be that your kajal pencil is dried out so this is a time to purchase a new one .

Dramatic feline eyeliner
This face chart helps us understand the different types of eyeliner shapes.
I have had this quad for ages and since I just found it I decided to do a small review on it. I must be honest though I don't think you can find this particular quad in the market right now. There are similar ones though produced by Maybelline. It also stands as an example of how Maybelline quads are in general. The colors are gorgeous and are perfect for any skin tones. Daytime as well as Night time looks can be created easily. Below I have some pictures of the quad.

                      Pro's
  1. Great Pigmentation
  2. Complimentary to several skin tones
  3. Not too chalky
  4. Cheap for the amount of colors
  5. Easily available in the market
  6. Lasts for a long time
  7. Instruction on the back of the lid
Cons
  1. Delicate packaging

 Price : 230 rps

Final Verdict : Great for some one who is beginner in make up as it helps direct the where to put which shade. Plus its not too heavy on the wallet. A must try for everyone

Mila kunis gunmetal eye look . It is a perfect balance between dramatic yet very clean . This is a face chart showing how you can get the same look with some products .

FOUNDATION : LOREAL DREAM MOOSE MATT FOUNDATION
BLUSH :JORDANA REDWOOD
BRONZER : BOURJOUS CHOCOLATE MATT BRONZER
EYE SHADOW : MAYBELLINE COLOR LIGHTS -01, ORIFLAME SAVANNAH SKY
EYELINE - MAC BLACK TRACK
LIP-REMMEL AND A LIP BALM BY MIKIYAJI

Kim K and many of the stars were seen wearing natural make up .This is a face chart showing how you can get the same look with some products .

FOUNDATION : MAC PRO LONGWEAR FOUNDATIONBLUSH:BOURJOUS AMBER DOR
EYE SHADOW: ULTA GOOD GIRL
EYELINE: MAC BLACK TRACK
LIP: I LOVE RASPBERRY AND STRAWBERRY - MIKIYAJI

Hear are some of my tips and tricks to get that red carpet look . INSPIRED FROM THE GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS2012 .These were some of my favorites .

Emma Stone , Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara
Primer and foundation are the most important especially when you’re going to get photographed and for a flawless complexion it is necessary.A primer also helps you for that long wear makeup and keeps you skin looking fresh .Mila kunis and Kim Kardashian  looked flawless and also they  had no dark circles or any form of spots seen, it was picture perfect .Their skin looked dewy , glowey not shinny.
Kim K went for her signature Hard contour and she loves it ! . A peachy blush gave her that flush of colour.  Kim normally wears pink but she went for a peachy natural look this time . Going with the natural theme she had a very natural lid with all neutral tones on her lid and her crease was darkened up a little bit for some definition to those gorgeous eyes. She used a warm golden colour eyeshadow underneath her lower lash line for some warmth . Loads of mascara and some false eye lashes will complete the look. They were feathery and light  For the lip she had a strong red lip with hint of peach colour

Mila kunis used a sheer light brown colour for the lid and had a little darker brown shadow for the crease. Light strokes would help you to achieve this blended look. A bright highlight in the inner corner when the cameras are flashing it’s going to grab the light. She had a thick eye liner but not super thick and with a little wink which gives the perfect lift to her eye. She used a light pink blush on the high points of her cheeks and then finished it off with a good highlighter. Use a peachy pink gloss as she had preferably a light rose colour.
Freida pinto had the same natural look going on with a nude gloss and a brown Smokey eye it was a clear mix of natural yet dramatic. The Smokey eye complimented her skin and her eye shape it brought out the warmth in her complete make up look .
Emma stone’s Gunmetal eye look  :
Emma stone make up look was bold and dramatic. She had a liquid foundation on giving her that minimal coverage. She had a little hint of colour on her cheeks. It seemed to be a dusky rose colour. For the eyes that’s were all the magic took place she had a sliver metallic Smokey eye. It had little hints of blue which complemented her natural eye colour (greenish blue) .The Smokey eye was dramatic and feline. She had eye shadow on her lower lash line which gave that depth to her eyes .This look was all about gunmetal inspired shades. She had a dusky rose shade on her lips . This is a perfect valentine day look.

I am a pink lipstick fanatic. I love it and I think that one can never have enough shades of pink lipstick. At risk of sounding like barbie I must say though that I do have 6 pink lipsticks that I own. Winter is the only time that I actually wear lip gloss/balm to college other than that my lips are pretty much bare through out the year. In search of a balm like pink lipstick I stumbled upon Maybelline Watershine pure. Now I usually don't go for balm like lipsticks but this one is different. Below I have a few swatches and picture of the product. I wont be doing my usual Pro's and Con's because it truly does not need much of explanation. Links will be at the end of the article

 Price 218 rps

http://www.365gorgeous.in/makeup/lips/lipstic/maybelline-water-shine-pure-lipstick-shade-b24.html

Final Verdict : A must try you wont be disappointed. Not huge on lasting power but great for everyday

I was on the look out for a great moisturiser to try after my beloved Lakme peach moisturiser finished. I have combination skin that only gets excessively dry in the winters other than that its pretty much oily in the t-zone. I use clean and clear that tends to dry my sin out the tiniest bit. I don't have acne problems though I do get the odd pimple. I wanted to try out gel moisturisers since a long time and after much research I decided to get the Lotus Herbals Aloe Hydra and I must tell you it has been heaven since then.It is easy to apply and leaves a subtle glow on my skin when I finish massaging it into my skin

Pro's
  1. It comes in a user friendly bottle
  2. Has a soft fragrance to it
  3. A bright yellow gel that does not tint the skin
  4. Pump works great till the end of the product
  5. Leaves a subtle glow to the skin
  6. Light enough to apply on the eye lids and under eye bags
  7. Gives enough hydration to oily and combination skin
  8. Does not break me out or cause acne
  9. Travel friendly
  10. Easy on the pocket
Con's
  1. Not suitable for dry skin
  2. Require 2 to 3 pumps hence using up a lot of product
Final verdict : Must try if you have oily or combination. You will definitely fall in love with it.

Price : 195 I got it for 175

I was on the look out for a cheap mousse that I could use on a daily basis. This was when I stumbled upon Enliven Ultra Hold Mousse. I was skeptic at first as I had never heard of the brand I did a bit of research and found out that their conditioners are amazing. I figured there's no harm its only 169. I found this particular product on Goodlife. I will Link the product down at the end of the article. The mousse claims to have Pro - Vitamins but we all know more than to believe that. With low expectations I decided to order the product. The Mousse bottle it self comes in this sleek white bottle with a transparent cap. The bottle is quite sturdy made up of Aluminum.
Pro's
  1. Cheap as dirt
  2. Attractive packaging
  3. Durable
  4. Great for scrunching hair
  5. The mousse is not runny
  6. Does not make hair oily looking
  Con's
  1.  Barely Holds the style
  2. Require a lot to get a decent hold
  3. Smell is not great
  4. Only effective for already curly hair
  5. Not easily available
Final verdict : Buy it only if you have already curly hair and use it with a gel for best results. Not a complete fail of a product but borders on being ineffective.

Price : 189 rps

If you have not noticed already I am obsessed with anything to do with hair. I suffered a huge problem because of my straightener ( it accidentally permanently straightened the bottom half of my hair ) due to which I completely shifted to blow drying my hair. A little background about my hair, I have wavy to curly hair for the 3/4 th of my hair the rest 1/4th is stick straight. I know not attractive at all, reason why I pin curl my hair all the time. But whenever I want to straighten it I use a round brush, over the years I have collected 3 types of brushes
1) Boar bristle ( Natural)  :
Boar bristle round brushes or as they are also called Natural bristle round brushes are made up of the hair or fur of wild hog.It is absorbent in nature and hence helps in to spread the natural oils of the hair making the hair look really shiny. Many salons use boar bristle brushes as they give a better finish. Its great for curly hair as Boar bristle brushes give the best tension to the hair.
Pro's
  1. Imparts shine to the hair
  2. Provides best tension to the hair
  3. Finishes the hair beautifully
  4. Catches even the ends of the hair
  5. Gives a classic blow dry effect
Con's
  1. Makes the brush heavy
  2. Expensive due to the bristles
  3. The weight might lead to pain in the wrist
Nylons Bristle:
Nylon bristles are used to categorize all bristle that are made of plastic or Nylon.Nylon feels almost like iron hair. It is very stiff, straight and can hurt when touching them. They are usually paired with ceramic bodies as they help in conducting the heat to the body of the brush. A nylon round brush with a ceramic body emanates heat sealing the style and making it last longer.
Pro's
  1. The brush is lighter than the boar bristle brush
  2. It holds the style longer
  3. Good for fine hair as it does not pull as much
  4. Best to curl hair
Con's
  1. Makes the hair look dry
  2. Ineffective on curly hair
  3. Can damage hair more as it adds additional heat to the hair
Mixed:
probably my most favorite kind. It has a mix of the above that means that it has both nylon and boar bristles. I don't want to dwell much on this as it is pretty self explinatory.
Pro's
  1. It has less weight when compared to boar bristle
  2. It provides great tension
  3. It imparts shine to the hair
  4. Gives the same effect as a boar bristle brush
Con's
  1. Most expensive kind
  2. The weight is relatively less not really light

I am always on the hunt to find better and cheaper ways to take care of my hair. I recently saw a lot of buzz about cold water rinses. After you wash your hair you are supposed to apply conditioner and rinse it out with cold water. I decided to give it a try in winters since my hair feels really dry and damaged during this time. First I will tell you how I do it.
How :
I apply the Sunsilk Keratinology conditioner on my hair using a giant clip I loosely tie it up. This is obviously in the shower after I wash my hair with shampoo. I wash my face with baking soda and massage it on face for a few minutes. It takes me barely 3 min. I take me hair down and shift to the tap outlet for the water, flip my hair upside down and run my hair under the cold water. This allows my to do the cold rinse without letting the water touch my body. If you don't have a tap outlet to your shower you can go to the sink and do this. Then I squeeze out the water and clip the hair back on the top of my head. I continue with my shower afterwards making sure that the hot water does not touch my head. I know it may seem like a lot but it really is not.
Findings:
  1. My hair was actually shiny
  2. It was manageable
  3. It felt soft
  4. Made wavy - curly hair bouncy and straight-ish
  5. Did not get greasy like how it would usually
Verdict - Cold rinses do seal the hair cuticles making it softer and shinier. I have incorporated this in my hair routine and there is no turning back
Good life is an online shopping website that finds its roots in Pune. They provide cash on delivery along with other payment options. Their product diversity keeps growing. Providing the best value for your money is their goal. Hassle-Free and convenient shopping experience is what they aim for. I found them for the first time while exploring a new brand that I only found on Good life. But what surprised me was that there was not only this one brand but several other brands that I found for the first time only on Good Life.

Products:
As mentioned above the product range is something that can be found exclusively only on Good Life not only in terms of cosmetics but also in terms of hair care and skin care products. They stock-up on really cheap but great products that are otherwise not available on other online websites
Prices:
I would not go on a leg and say that they have the cheapest prices definitely they have some products which are really reasonable considering the products original value. They have a decent overall slash on their products but the best thing is that they run discounts all month long on certain products which also include high end products
Packaging:
The products comes wrapped in layers of bubble wrap and in the cardboard box shown in the first picture. Other than this the products are taped to the cardboard box from the inside to prevent it from moving.
Shipping:
The site does carry shipping charges for purchases below 250 rps. I had exceeded this amount so shipping was free for me. It took about a 4 days for the product to get to me as I live in Hyderabad. It also has a convenient method through which we can confirm the shipment by clicking a link in our email which is better than waiting for calls
Customer Care:
The customer care is great I originally was not able to track my order and the customer care consultant immediately got in touch and solved the problem within 24 hours of the complaint. Other than that they also sent me emails informing me of my shipment and order confirmation
 Product ordered
1)Streetwear clear Mascara
2)Lotus aloehydra moisturizing gel
