Palm Trees always come to mind whenever you think about a beach. Begin by drawing two long vertical lines for the tree trunk. Make it slightly curved to give it a natural look. From the top of the tree trunk, draw a few short curved lines that extend outwards to create the palm leaves, making them fan-like shapes. If you want, you can draw circles right below the leaves to portray coconuts. You can even draw two palm trees, joining them with a hammock.

2. A Tree with a Face

A Tree with a Face

In all the fairytales, there is always a wise tree with a face that guides the princess toward her destiny. Start by drawing two vertical lines for the Tree trunk. You can make the trunk a bit irregular to give the tree some character. Draw a cloud-like shape on top of the trunk for the canopy.

Now for the face, draw two loose ovals on the trunk or the canopy for the eyes and a semi-circle or a full one for the mouth. A semi-circle portrays a tree with a happy face, and a full circle portrays a tree with a shocked face. You can even give the tree eyebrows to make its expression precise or forehead lines to show its age.

3. Tree Roots

Tree Roots

The roots of a tree are what hold the tree to the ground, and in many ways, roots are more complex than the tree itself. Drawing tree roots can add depth to your art. Begin by drawing the tree trunk and the canopy as you have done till now. From the base of the trunk, extend several lines outward and downward to represent the main roots.

These lines can be thick and irregular. Branch of smaller lines from the main roads to create sub-roots. These roots can vary in length to give your tree roots a more organic look.

4. A Pine Tree

A Pine Tree

Found in hilly areas, pine trees are one of the most fun trees to draw. Begin by drawing a trunk that is slightly thicker at the bottom and narrows down as it goes up. Around the top of the trunk, draw short, simple lines extending outwards in clusters to represent the pine needles. A pine tree looks like triangles stacked on other triangles. This can well be complemented while dealing with art that is generally associated with depicting hilly terrains.

5. A Christmas Tree

A Christmas Tree

A Christmas tree is just a pine tree but with flair and gifts at the bottom. Start by drawing two short vertical lines for the trunk of the Christmas tree. Draw a triangle above the trunk with the bottom corners touching the side of the trunk, and add short, overlapping lines to represent the pine needles.

Now for the fun part, draw small circles or dots or ribbons around the tree to give it a festive look. You can even dangle Christmas ornaments from the side of the tree. Don’t forget to add a star on the top of the tree and gifts at the bottom of the tree.

6. Tree Rings

Tree Rings

Did you know that you can tell a tree’s age by counting the number of rings it has? Drawing trees allows you to showcase the history and life story of a tree. Start by drawing a circle or an oval above a short trunk, and draw rings inside of the circle. The rings should get darker and closer as they get to the center.

Each ring should get progressively lighter in color as new rings tend to be lighter than the old ones. These rings can be in any shape, doesn’t have to be a circle. Have fun with it.

7. Tree with No Leaves

Tree with No Leaves

Drawing trees without leaves represents the trees in the winter, giving a sense of peace and contemplation. Begin by drawing the trunk of the tree and extending several branches from the trunk. Make the branches thinner at the ends and thicker near the trunk. On each main branch, draw smaller branches that branch out further. Keep them irregular and jagged to give off the appearance of a winter tree.

8. A Tree Covered in Snow

A Tree Covered in Snow

Continuing on the winter theme, drawing trees covered in snow can bring a sense of beauty and serenity to your art. Draw the trunk and the branches as you’ve done before. Now the point that you need to keep in mind is that the branches should have a gentle drooping appearance as if weighed down by the snow. Add round shapes along the branches to represent the snow. Make them larger on the top of the branches and smaller towards the end.

9. Cherry Blossom Tree

Cherry Blossom Tree

The prettiest of all, cherry blossoms aren’t green when they bloom. Use various shades of pink when drawing this tree. Start by drawing a tree trunk with two vertical lines, and use soft and gentle strokes to capture the delicate beauty of the pink canopy. You can even portray the delicate pink petals falling from the cherry blossom tree. Cherry Blossoms hold a deep cultural significance and represent the transient nature of Japanese culture.

10. The Treehouse

The Treehouse

A dream of every child, drawing a treehouse is the best way to show your creativity and treat your inner child. Draw a rectangle or square shape on one side of the tree trunk to represent the platform of the treehouse. Add vertical lines from the corner of the platform to represent the walls of the treehouse, and connect the lines to form the roof.

Add a door, a few rectangles for windows, and a ladder leaning against the tree trunk, leading to the tree house. You can also draw a railing or fence surrounding the platform. You can even add fun elements like a flag on top of the roof or a rope swing.

11. Tree with a Swing

Tree with a Swing

A little nostalgic, drawing a tree with a swing will take you right back to your carefree childhood days. Draw a tree trunk with a sturdy branch, add two parallel lines extending downward from the tree branch for ropes, and a bold line to join them at the bottom for the seat. You can even curve the ropes to show the swing in motion.

12. A Tree with a Birdhouse

A Tree with a Birdhouse

What’s a backyard without a birdhouse? On one of the tree trunk branches, draw a small rectangular shape with a triangle-shaped roof to represent a birdhouse. Add a circle in the middle of the birdhouse for an opening. You can even throw a small bird on the roof of the birdhouse or perch on one of the branches. It can just be a simple round shape with wings, a beak, and a tail. Add details, like small flowers, grass, or clouds, around the tree and the birdhouse to create a complete scene.

13. An Upside Down Tree

An Upside Down Tree

Drawing trees is all about creativity, thinking outside the box. What’s more outside of a box than an actual upside-down tree? Start by drawing a horizontal line to represent the base of the tree. From the center of the line, draw a tree trunk downward and a cloud-like shape for the canopy. You can even add roots that extend upward.

Feel free to draw the canopy however way you like. Another way to draw an upside-down tree is to extend a few branches downward in various directions; the more branches you add, the fuller your tree will look. After you have drawn the branches, draw small curved lines or shapes at the end of the branches to represent the leaves. You can add texture to your tree using the right kind of tools.

14. A Family Tree

A Family Tree

Drawing a family tree is a wonderful way to represent your family and learn more about your roots. No pun intended. Once you have drawn the trunk of the tree, start by drawing two horizontal lines extending outward to the left and the right. These are your parent’s lines or the first generation.

From each of the parent lines, draw additional lines extending outwards to represent their children, the second generation. Use vertical lines to connect the parent lines with their respective children. Write the names of your family members next to each of the lines. If you’d like, you can also add small symbols or flowers to represent each family member.

15. Tree Doodles

Tree Doodles

Drawing tree doodles is a fun and therapeutic activity for all ages. Have you ever seen your mother draw doodles of flowers and trees every time she was on the phone with a friend, just chatting away? Did you unknowingly adopt that habit as well? This is because doodling can be incredibly therapeutic.

There are countless ways to doodle trees. You can even create a whole forest. Start by doodling multiple tree trunks with different shapes and sizes. Draw simple abstract trees with geometric shapes for the tree trunk and the canopy.

Play with different colors and patterns; make one of your trees blue or one of them a square. There are endless possibilities.

16. A Silhouette of a Tree

A Silhouette of a Tree

Trees can be easily recognized, even as a silhouette against the colorful backdrop of a sky. Create the trunk and the canopy as usual, but instead of adding any details to them, just fill them out. You can draw a sunset in the background if you want to add more intrigue to your silhouette. A colorful backdrop will enhance the silhouette. Try drawing silhouettes of different trees to explore their unique shapes and characteristics.

There are so many different types of trees, don’t limit yourself to just one. Plus, the additional part regarding drawing silhouettes is that you don’t have to worry about paying major attention to the details. Your main goal is to draw the outline of the tree.

17. Tree with Flowers

Tree with Flowers

A tree with flowers is different than a cherry blossom tree. A cherry blossom tree is pink, but a tree with flowers can be any color you want. Start by drawing a tree trunk and a canopy, and you can draw small and simple flower shapes on the canopy. You can use various shapes such as circles, ovals, or even five petals flowers.

These flowers can be red, white, blue, or any color, for that matter. Let your imagination run wild. You can even show flowers on the ground surrounding the tree trunk.

18. A Fall Tree

A Fall Tree

Picture this: it’s the middle of October, you have a pumpkin-themed drink in your hand, a scarf around your neck, and you’re sitting on a bench under a tree. A leaf falls on your lap, and you look up to see the most beautiful tree you have ever seen. Draw your trunk and canopy as usual, and draw a few simple leaves falling from the cloud-like canopy.

Use warm fall colors like red, orange, and brown for the leaves to give the tree its fall look. You can even draw a few pumpkins or acorns near the tree to enhance the fall atmosphere.

19. Apple Tree

Apple Tree

Drawing an apple tree is as easy as it gets. Draw a trunk and a canopy that looks like a green cloud. Add a bunch of red circles in the cloud. In addition, if you want to have a little fun, you can draw a few apples near the tree trunk.

For a more whimsical scene, you can also draw a picnic blanket and a basket under the tree. Let your creativity run wild, and don’t get stuck in the norm. Apples can also be green.

Conclusion

Drawing trees can be a delightful and rewarding artistic activity. It’s a form of activity that is inspired by factors like growth and life; it requires patience. From doodles to upside-down trees to cherry blossom trees, these incredible offerings from nature offer endless creative possibilities. Each stroke of the pencil captures the essence of nature’s beauty, from the sway of a leaf falling down to the sturdy strength of a tree trunk.

Whether you are sketching a family tree, a paltry, or a tree house, each drawing allows you to connect with nature and express your imagination. Remember that the beauty of tree drawings lies not only in their visual appeal but also in the joy and peace they bring to the artist and the viewer alike. So, pick up your pencil and let your creativity flow. Embrace the diversity of trees and let your art do the talking.
