For the fourth time in 2014, the titans of the Western Conference will collide, with one of them going to big dance December 7
With the MLS Western Conference Championship awaiting on the horizon, #FirstToFiVe is one step closer for Robbie Keane (left) the Los Angeles Galaxy.
On Sunday, November 23, 2014, the Galaxy head north to CenturyLink Field and battle the Seattle Sounders for the right to represent the Western Conference in this year’s MLS Cup.
Two weeks ago, it could be said that the regular season finale between these two clubs was a preview of what was to come in the postseason.
This year, Los Galacticos would want nothing more than to take out Seattle, who nudged out LA for the Supporters’ Shield in the last two matches of the year (0-0 draw at StubHub Center and a 2-0 SEA win at CenturyLink Field).
Although, the Supporters’ Shield (league’s overall best record) slipped away for LA, the big prize now steps forward and is now in the forefront.
Los Angeles is preparing for their fifth semifinal in six years and second conference championship meeting against Seattle in three years (LA won the first meeting in 2012 en route to their fourth MLS Cup).
LA, behind a hat trick from the ageless wonder Landon Donovan (right), advanced with a 5-0 aggregate win over Real Salt Lake.
With Seattle’s 0-0 draw last Monday night against FC Dallas, the two best along the coast begin part IV of their intense saga on Sunday for a berth in the championship on December 7.
CenturyLink Field without question gets loud. Whether it is the Seattle Seahawks or the Sounders, CenturyLink brings the noise.
The Galaxy will have their hands full going up to hostile Seattle and attempt to quiet the 12th man and attempt to head back to LA and host the title game.
They did it back in July when they pasted the Sounders 3-0 in Seattle. But that was then and this is now.
History will have to repeat itself against a much improved Seattle team looking for their first trip to the finals.
