In a match that has huge playoff seeding implications, the San Diego Flash (5-1-0) will be traveling to the Santa Clarita Storm (1-1-4) on Friday night with kick off at 7:30 PM.  With a win the Flash can stay atop the ratings in the West Division, but a loss will drop them into a tie with FC Force.

A win by Santa Clarita will propel them into the playoff picture with only 5 games left to play.  Santa Clarita welcomes the Flash to In The Net Stadium for their annual charity game benefiting the Michael Hoefflin Foundation.

David Banks Flash SoccerFlash coach David Banks said before this weeks game he is satisfied with the balance his team has been playing with and likes where the teams confidence is.

“The game against the Del Rey City club was one where the team was able to build on their confidence and continue their crisp passing and offensive attack.” Banks said.

“Our injuries are a bit of a concern going into the Storm game as we know they will be playing with a full squad who is hungry to win coming off last weeks loss.”

When asked about his team head coach Gerald Brunner indicated that he is looking forward to some of his veteran players coming back this week.  With the loss from last week the Storm our now on the outside of the playoff picture looking in and a win against the undefeated Flash will be a big push for them to make the playoffs.

“We are looking to run solid offensive formations creating more opportunity for us to score on more chances.  We know the offense the Flash run and have been working on countering it with our own defensive schemes and balanced play.”

The Michael Hoefflin Foundation is set up to offer financial and emotional help to children and families battling cancer in the Santa Clarita and surrounding areas.  In 1994 the foundation was set up to benefit a young boy named Michael Hoefflin who had recurrent brain cancer.  They strive to educate the public and provide grant funding for innovative research to help accelerate the fight against pediatric cancer.  30% of the ticket sales will go directly to the foundation or if fans would like they can bring in basic essential objects such as toothbrushes, tooth paste, shampoo, conditioner, coloring books etc. to the game as a donation and receive discounted admission tickets.
