Terrell Suggs Tears Achilles
|He still has yet to take an MRI, which will confirm the original diagnosis.
The play came in the fourth quarter, when Suggs blitzed Denver quarterback Peyton Manning, planting his left foot hard into the ground.
He immediately grabbed his calf, and after wincing in pain, fell to the ground.
He was later able to get up, and appeared to be walking under his own power; but once he got to the sideline, he was taken to the locker room by a cart.
This is not the first time Suggs has torn his achilles, as back in 2012, he tore his right achilles during that offseason.
Suggs is going to turn 33 next month and many wonder if at that age he can return to his dominant self.
He has already recovered from the same injury, in fact, he had the quickest return from an injury of that severity.
Suggs may not recover as quickly as he did last time, but he will still come back the same as he was before.
As for the hole at outside linebacker, rookie Za’Darius Smith will likely take over and fill in for the injured Suggs.
Smith, who played for Kentucky last season in college, was one of the stars on defense alongside Bud Dupree, putting up 61 total tackles and four and a half sacks.
Aside from Smith, Zachary Orr or Albert McClellan may also get some time at outside linebacker.
The Ravens are going to be without one of their primary defenders of their defense. But aside from losing that, they also lose their most vocal leader.
The Ravens are a strong team with a tenacious defense, and should still keep faith for the young season.
